Design is more than just what you see. To me, design is a combination of creative elements, blended with experience, knowledge and a good sense for what appeals to a specific target audience. There are many ways to paint a picture, but when painting for an audience, perception is king.
So when we work together, I ask a lot of questions to discover your goals and to get to know your audience. I am not an expert in every field, so asking questions relative to your business to help link art and customer appeal is what it is all about. Thinking a project through often takes as much or more time than creating the graphics needed for a project. This is the joy in the philosophy of measure twice, cut once. Think it through, and think it through well.
I will add, however, that things can be “overthought.” There are often unknown variables and unseen things which become a real part of the equation. As well, being “too” micro-prepared often leaves the creativity in the gutter, pigeon-holing a project where a wider door might do just as well creatively.
In my world, the customer is the boss, but I hope to partner with you both in the planning phase of your design as well as execution. Two heads are better than one indeed!
